About Me:
Hello! My name is Rulon Adams, and I am a student at the University of Utah and an aspiring game designer. I have been a big fan of games for the vast majority of my life, starting when I got a Wii when I was young. Ever since then I have been playing as many games as I could get my hands on, with some of my favorites being the games that could tell a great story as well as those that were really challenging and required me to think.
I love the games medium because it is able to capture the many emotions that humans feel in their lives. Games can make us angry, happy, sad, and really make these emotions real. The gaming medium is incredibly flexible and can fulfill many desires that we have as humans. Games can help people socialize, relax, compete, and challenge ourselves. Games are a truly beautiful thing that deserve to be take seriously, and I want to prove that through my career in the games industry. I want to create experiences that evoke real emotions from the players, and I very excited to learn and grow through my journey in the games industry.
I grew up in California as the second oldest of a very large family. I have one older brother, 2 younger brothers, and 2 younger sisters totaling 6 kids. I am a naturally more reserved and quieter person but I love to socialize and meet new people. After graduating high school I was began school at University of Utah because if it's highly acclaimed games program, and have been continuing my education here ever since.
Ever since I was a kid I struggled with anxiety, and I was even diagnosed with generalized anxiety shortly after I graduated high school. Through my many efforts and naturally introspective nature I am continuing to overcome the challenges that this gives me and I am continually improving and becoming a more confident person so that I can work well with others in the games industry.
Besides games, I enjoy almost every activity that requires me to be creative. When I was younger I drew a lot, and still dabble in it every once in a while (though my skills leave a lot to be desired). I also read a lot when I was in elementary school and have been trying to pick the hobby again recently. Because I have to cook food for myself I have also enjoyed dabbling in cooking and creating interesting meals for myself. I love to talk about different games I have played, so to I also have created and worked on a Youtube channel which allowed me to express my love of games as well as teach me how to edit videos, which I have come to enjoy.
